Every person I know in software development has a personal website and a blog of some kind so I feel like I should have one too. I feel like I have a lot of very important stuff to say, totally not from FOMO. Some developers that are really talented like to make their personal websites truly something special and they act as a portfolio or some flex of their skills.
I didn't want to do that. So I didn't.
The stack
I work in React and Node.js during the day and I genuinely like those tools. But this site doesn't need them. It's text, links, and a little structure. HTML was invented for this, and it's pretty good at it.
Why I like the simplicity
If you are a modern software developer like me I am sure you have had quite the push to use AI code generation tools, UI frameworks that generate whole mockups for you with a single prompt, and anything in between in this ever evolving landscape. Sometimes it can be overwhelming, not always sure what your role will adapt to as these tools speed up time to build and change the entire way we build things. I have my opinions on the AI takeover but we will put a pin in it for now.
I just want this site to be simple. Not worrying about dependencies, build tools, why I am getting unknown typescript errors. And honestly, I want to have something where I am not under pressure to use all these new stuff or that AI can spin it up in a second. There is still something so satisfying to me writing things by hand, where even Copilot can't find me here. Well, it can find me, and maybe it will help make sure my spelling is correct, but I am the supreme leader of my domain, and I can make it look as bad as I want. I may even mispell something on purpose just to see intellisense get pissed.
What's on the cite (take that spellcheck)
The plan is for this to be a hub for whatever I'm working on or thinking about. Or something like that. I am not sure.
I am an avid fan of video games, movies, tv shows, anime, comics, ttrpgs, chess, and I can't remember right now anyting else but I am sure I like more than that. I shall write about all of it, or the parts I find the motivation to get in here and make a new .html and write stuff.
Welp, s'pose I should head on out. Thanks for reading, I am sarcastic but I do love to talk about a lot of things and build some cool stuff, I hope I get to showcase that here in a way that is interesting and fun to read. Until next time!
